This is a beautiful hand-carved high quality Type A jade pendant in the carving of a Ru Yi (如意). Traditionally, a Ru Yi is designed as a scepter with one end with cloud-like carvings. The Ruyi is a very useful symbol to wear when one is in search of greater authority or wishes to be promoted to a higher position in their career. Wearing this Ruyi jade charm is said to create an unique chi, which will have the ability to increase career luck, generate respect and recognition, and create a smooth flow in all business ventures embarked upon. Because it looks like Ling Zhi, the fungus of immortality, the Ruyi is also believed to bring longevity luck. The carvings on this jade pendant are derived from these cloud-like designs that adorn a traditional Ru Yi scepter.
This carving is also commonly seen in Feng Shui ornaments for good prosperity and fortunes. Ru Yi in Chinese literally means "as desired". Ruyi represents one gets what one wishes for. In context, it has an auspicious meaning which is to allow its wearer to achieve one's wishes.
The jadeite used in this Ru Yi pendant has a saturated violet hue in parts of the jadeite material. The hue is similar to lavender jadeite but carries a deeper blue tone bringing it closer to a violet hue. It has beautiful lavender with a patch of bluish flower at the right bottom corner of the Ru Yi pendant adds an interesting design to the pendant. The crystal aggregates are very fine. This is very rare in purple jadeite.
